Hospice

A month ago, I found myself suddenly providing end-of-life care through hospice for my mother at my home. Last spring she was diagnosed with her fourth metastases of breast cancer. She decided to forego aggressive treatment, and has been in a gradual decline ever since. She moved in with us in August and hospice people were called to help with her care. It has been a difficult journey, but a blessing as well to serve my mother in these last precious days with her.
She is now arriving close to the end of this battle, which has lasted 22 years, and though I don't know when the sun will again shine into our lives, I am trusting that our Lord will cause all things to work for His glory.

My dear Laura - I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I know there is not much that any of us can do except to let you know that we are all thinking of you and praying for you. We will be here when you feel like returning.

Laura, you are a very special person to be able to take on the responsibilty to look after your mother during these last moments in her life. I pray that God gives you the strength and courage to see you through this time.

Laura, I'm praying for you and your family as you walk these final days with your mother. What a special blessing to be able to care for her with the help of hospice. Although it's difficult to see God at work in these dark days, I pray that His comfort and peace surround you and your family.

Oh my dear Laura, I so know where you are at in this. My mother provided end of life care for her sister (whom died of metastatic breast cancer) and her mother (my granny) who died from uterine cancer. It was awful and hard and rewarding all at the same time, as I helped her both times the final week. Please know that although the end may be near, your mother shall be free from pain and will be enveloped in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. And he shall also envelope you in peace and tranquility. That's how it was for us. Please take care and know that I am thinking of you and shall keep you and your mother in my prayers. HUGS to you.
